Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Full-Time Roadside / Field Diesel Mechanic and become a vital part of our mobile service operation! In this energetic role, you will perform on-the-spot repairs and maintenance for heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment directly at roadside locations or job sites. Your expertise will keep fleet vehicles running smoothly, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your mechanical skills and problem-solving abilities make a real difference every day. Duties Conduct diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension, and electrical systems for trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and equipment inspections. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately. Fabricate or modify parts using welding and hand tools to meet specific repair needs or enhance equipment performance. Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment safely during repair or maintenance tasks. Respond promptly to roadside breakdowns or field service calls to minimize vehicle downtime for clients. Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and parts documentation to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies. Qualifications Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with dealership experience preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and truck-trailer systems. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, electrical system repair, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and transmission work. Skilled in using power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and hand tools for various repair tasks. Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting complex issues. Valid certification in heavy truck repair or diesel engine repair; ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is a plus. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in diverse outdoor environments under varying weather conditions. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive attitude toward safety and quality assurance.
