Bay Line Construction is seeking to fill the position of Substation Foreman. Our main service territory is DE, MD and VA, but this position will be required to travel as needed. This position is a Working Foreman position, and will be accountable for the safety, quality, and production of all crew members on assigned construction projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Candidates must possess and be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and talents needed to construct new and repair/perform maintenance for electrical high and low voltage substations.
• Supervise performance of substation construction and maintenance.
• This includes trenching, installing conduit, pulling cable, wiring of outdoor electrical equipment, installing ground grids, installing foundations, setting steel structures, installing buswork and conductors, setting and adjusting switches, installing circuit breakers, and other required substation construction and maintenance tasks.
• Operate aerial lifts, forklifts, skidsteers, backhoes, excavators, boom trucks, and other equipment used in the construction of electrical substations.
• Must know and understand state and local laws, DOT, and OSHA standards
• Perform services in a safe and timely manner.
• Must be able to understand and complete required paperwork and documentation of the services.
• Communicate with customers, general public, other contractors, utility representatives, and government agencies.
• Maintain and track crew working hours and production
• Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Will directly supervise a substation crew of 3 to 5 employees
• Will be responsible for training and coaching crew members

Requirements:

• Clean driving record, Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
• Ability to read and interpret prints and plans
• Effective communication skills
• Experience working in energized substations
• Experience with both Above Grade and Below Grade Substation Construction
• Utility Substation and Transmission Line Switching & Tagging experience
• Be able to lift/move 50 pound
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 4 or more years of experience as a Substation Technician. Foreman experience preferred
• Preferred Completion of an accredited Substation Apprentice Program
