$20.00-$59.00 per hour, based on experience and technical skill level Put Your Power Generation Experience to Work with Caterpillar Achilles is recruiting an experienced Electric Power Generation Field Technician for a leading Caterpillar equipment dealer and service provider in South Carolina. This is a field-service opportunity for someone who understands more than just engines. You'll work across diesel and natural gas engines, generators, electrical controls, transfer switches, switchgear, and related power-generation equipment , diagnosing problems and keeping critical systems operating for customers. What You'll Do Diagnose, repair, recondition, overhaul, and maintain engines and power-generation equipment Install, maintain, and troubleshoot engine and electrical systems Work with transfer switches, switchgear, electrical controls, and associated power-generation components Troubleshoot diesel and natural gas engine systems Interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams Diagnose failures using logical, step-by-step troubleshooting Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, assemble, and install components Determine component reusability using Caterpillar guidelines Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components Prepare, inspect, and operate equipment prior to delivery Order replacement parts and ensure parts requests are accurate and complete Prepare inspection, appraisal, and service reports Maintain your assigned service truck, tools, and equipment Stay current on developments in tooling, technology, and systems Work independently in the field while delivering a high level of customer service Travel to customer sites throughout the assigned service territory Be flexible to work after hours when needed to support customer needs What We're Looking For High school diploma or GED Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting ability Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to diagnose and resolve problems independently in the field Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced service environment Valid driver's license and safe driving record Personal tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned work Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with: 5 years of electrical power generation and/or electronics experience 3+ years working on CAT diesel and natural gas engines or comparable equipment, including systems up to 480 volts Experience with industrial generators, gensets, transfer switches, switchgear, standby power, or related power-generation systems Familiarity with Caterpillar SIS diagnostic software or comparable diagnostic/service systems Experience with Caterpillar Power Systems, Cummins, Generac Industrial, Kohler, MTU, industrial generators, standby power, critical power, data center backup power, or comparable systems may translate well into this position. The role requires flexibility to support customers after hours when needed. You'll regularly work around engines, electrical systems, power-generation equipment, tools, and machinery. The position requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting, and hands-on mechanical work, including work in forward and overhead positions.
