Job Description

Field Service Engineer
  • Wire Machinery Manufacturer
  • Base Salary to 115k
  • Atlanta, GA Our client is an established supplier of industrial wire and cable manufacturing machinery serving customers throughout North America.
They provide wire drawing, stranding, extrusion, and heat treatment equipment, along with commissioning, technical service, modernization, spare parts, and preventative maintenance support.

They are seeking a Field Service Engineer with direct wire industry experience to commission, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade wire drawing and related wire and cable manufacturing equipment. This position combines hands-on industrial automation, PLC/HMI programming, electrical troubleshooting, machine controls, and extensive field service travel throughout North America. Candidates may reside in the New England area, Georgia, or Indiana for full consideration for this position.
Responsibilities:
Commission industrial wire drawing, stranding, extrusion, and heat treatment equipment.

Install, configure, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and industrial automation systems.

Program, modify, and debug PLC software and HMI applications.

Configure and troubleshoot AC/DC variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo drives, and motion control systems.

Perform electrical and controls troubleshooting on industrial wire and cable manufacturing machinery and production lines.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.

Diagnose electrical, electronic, PLC, industrial communication, networking, and motion control issues.

Retrofit and modernize legacy machine control systems.

Support equipment startup, production optimization, and operator training at customer facilities.

Complete preventative maintenance inspections and recommend equipment improvements.

Prepare service reports documenting work performed, findings, and recommendations.

Communicate technical issues and field observations with engineering and project management teams.

Travel approximately 120-150 days per year throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with assignments typically lasting 3-4 weeks.
Qualifications:
Direct experience within the wire or wire and cable manufacturing industry, including experience with wire drawing machinery.

Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.

Experience with industrial PLC programming and troubleshooting.

Experience with HMI programming and operator interface systems.

Knowledge of industrial automation, machine controls, and control systems.

Experience configuring AC/DC variable frequency drives.

Ability to interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.

Working knowledge of industrial communications and networking.

Experience working with 480V three-phase industrial electrical systems.

Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with industrial machinery.

Ability to meet company driving requirements and obtain required travel documentation for international business travel.

Ability to travel extensively throughout North America, including approximately 120-150 travel days per year.
