A Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and providing technical support for equipment or machinery at customer sites. They typically work directly with customers, troubleshooting problems, performing repairs, and ensuring that the equipment operates efficiently. They may work across various industries, such as telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare, or IT, depending on the nature of the equipment they specialize in.
Primary Responsibilities Perform startup and commissioning of AC drives, DC drives, soft starters, motors, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems. Troubleshoot VFD, motor, PLC, HMI, instrumentation, communication, and control-panel problems at customer facilities. Diagnose equipment failures using electrical drawings, drive fault histories, PLC logic, I/O status, measurements, and other available information. Configure and program variable-frequency drives for industrial applications. Troubleshoot, modify, and develop Allen-Bradley PLC programs. Develop and modify HMI applications. Support PLC, HMI, and drive retrofits for obsolete or failed equipment. Develop control-system architecture, electrical schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, I/O lists, and sequence-of-operation documents. Select drives, control components, instrumentation, communications hardware, and related equipment. Program and troubleshoot industrial networks and communication protocols. Perform control-panel testing and factory acceptance testing before shipment. Coordinate startup activities with customers, contractors, electricians, panel builders, and Riverside project personnel. Mark up drawings and document field changes for final project records. Prepare clear service reports describing the problem, work performed, findings, and recommended corrective actions. Train customer maintenance and operations personnel on equipment operation and troubleshooting. Provide telephone and remote technical support when appropriate. Identify potential upgrades, repairs, spare-parts needs, and follow-up service opportunities. Follow customer safety requirements and accepted electrical safety practices.

$85,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
