Please Note:
This position is contingent upon additional funding. This position provides support for the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for USPS automation equipment. Additionally, this role trains employees, and identifies, analyses, counsels on, and guides, the repairs of USPS automation equipment failures. This role also develops procedures and processes to prevent potential future equipment failures and issues, and develops life cycle support documentation, to include maintenance and safety procedures based on engineering, vendor, and COTS information.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
Determine and recommend which products or services best USPS customer needs. Become familiar with USPS equipment servicing and engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. Rely on experience and judgement to guide, plan and facilitate equipment maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. Perform a variety of maintenance, installation and repair related tasks. Lead and direct the work of others. Use a wide degree of creativity and latitude in execution of duties. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Candidates must be able to obtain a USPS Public Trust clearance. This requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status (Green Card), and the ability to pass a stringent background check.
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in industrial equipment automation repair or a related field. US citizen or Green Card Holder and must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Must be willing to travel for training, site visits, and related business needs. Be available for off-hours calls if necessary to support operations and resolve urgent issues Draft and / or update technical documentation for machinery, ensuring clear, accurate, and accessible instructions for users and technicians. Verify and validate documentation based on engineering and COTS documentation. Experienced with maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of machines and equipment as related to mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems Able to communicate, orally and in writing, technical guidance, equipment failure analysis, problem management and trend analysis to support maintenance customers. Interface and coordinate with internal and external customers to resolve equipment and system problems. Understand repair and maintenance life-cycle support methodologies. Basic industrial control/systems knowledge or experience.
