Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent military training/experience) Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher level Current passport (or obtain) Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with networking, server management, Cisco equipment, and/or fiber optic systems in field or deployed environments Experience working in or around a military environment Install, configure, and troubleshoot complex network and server systems quickly in austere or small-scale environments Knowledge of power systems, networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN), fiber optics, and Linux/Windows server environments Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls) and related configuration/management tools Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, executing IT tasks efficiently and moving on to subsequent priorities Available to travel 25-75% (goal of less than 50%), including to remote or OCONUS sites as mission requires Meet European Contractor Online Processing System (ECOPS) requirements (as applicable)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching or presenting highly technical concepts to military personnel, including high-ranking officials (Colonels and above) and government stakeholders Public speaking and presentation skills Prior military experience (preferred
MOS/AFSC
in communications, networking, IT, electronics, or related fields) CompTIA or equivalent technical certifications (Network+, Security+, A+, CCNA, or similar) Experience with fiber optic installation, termination, testing (OTDR, power meters), and cable plant management Experience supporting smaller, non-enterprise environments where rapid task execution and multi role support are required Familiarity with data collection for Government Acceptance Test Plans (GATP) or operational assessments Available to accept short duration operational deployments to various OCONUS locations in support of mission objectives
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying environmental conditions May be required to operate vehicles, climb towers, work at heights, and perform tasks in elevated positions Adhere to all site safety and security protocols Comfort working in austere or dynamic field environments with limited infrastructure support
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive site surveys focused on network infrastructure, power availability, fiber optic pathways, line of sight assessments for wireless links, and evaluation of existing IT and structural infrastructure to ensure optimal system placement and performance Install, configure, and maintain networking hardware, servers, Cisco switches/routers, fiber optic systems, and associated power distribution equipment at CONUS and OCONUS sites Execute rapid IT tasks including server builds, network configuration, cable plant installation/termination, and system integration, then efficiently transition to subsequent field requirements Perform system diagnostics, fault isolation, and corrective actions on network, server, and power-related issues to sustain operational readiness Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with technical manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturer specifications Support field testing, data collection, and system evaluations for performance verification, acceptance testing, and integration with broader mission networks Train military and civilian personnel on network setup, basic troubleshooting, and sustainment of IT infrastructure (when required) Provide detailed technical reports, maintenance logs, and after action summaries to government leads and program management Coordinate with engineering teams to implement software/firmware updates, configuration changes, and hardware upgrades Support system integration with base defense networks, tactical sensor networks, and enterprise IT environments Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, security, cybersecurity, and operational standards Perform generalist tasks as needed, including tower climbing, antenna/cable work, and support for related field infrastructure
