Details:
Semiconductor industry with approx 75% travel Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment at customer sites. The role focuses on rapid troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and ensuring optimal system performance in production environments. The ideal candidate combines hands-on engineering knowledge with strong customer-facing skills and a commitment to safety and uptime. Key Responsibilities Install, commission, and validate new equipment at customer facilities according to specifications and safety standards. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues through systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and upgrades to maximize equipment reliability and production yield. Provide timely on-site and remote technical support to customers, including phone and email assistance, diagnostics, and step-by-step guidance. Document service activities, repairs, spare parts used, and customer communication in the companys service management system. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to report recurring faults, suggest design improvements, and support field modifications. Train customer operators and maintenance staff on safe operation, basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance procedures. Manage spare parts inventory, order replacement components, and ensure appropriate tools and test equipment are available for field tasks. Adhere to company safety policies, customer-site protocols, and industry regulatory requirements while working on-site. Work flexible hours and travel regularly to customer locations, sometimes at short notice, to meet service-level agreements. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical diploma with proven field experience. 3+ years of hands-on experience in field service, commissioning, or equipment maintenance within manufacturing environments. Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and control systems; ability to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions. Experience with industrial control systems, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and basic network communications (Ethernet/TCP-IP). Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals. Excellent customer-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical personnel. Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including on-call rotations when required; valid drivers license. Experience with parts management, service documentation, and using service management software or mobile reporting tools.
Preferred:
previous experience in semiconductor equipment or cleanroom manufacturing environments and familiarity with EHS protocols specific to semiconductor production.
