Automation Field Service & Commissioning Engineer Up to $59.00/hr + Overtime
  • Greater Milwaukee, WI Area (50%-80% Travel)

Base pay up to $59.00/hr based on controls and robotics depth, plus overtime eligibility, a 401(k) match, educational assistance, and full corporate benefits.

Core Technical Scope:

Work & Travel Model:
Blended position split between internal shop floor assembly/debug in Milwaukee and global customer field deployments (50%-80% travel, predominantly domestic).

What You Will Be Doing (Daily Responsibilities)
Lead Internal System Commissioning:
Direct internal commissioning, debug, and equipment readiness on high-complexity automated machinery prior to client shipment.
Validate Advanced Robotic Platforms:
Calibrate new robotic work cells from scratch, executing hardware setups, I/O mapping, and industrial communication protocol verification.
Perform Diagnostic Troubleshooting:
Execute deep electro-mechanical diagnostics across complex PLC architectures, pneumatic circuits, servo drives, safety interlocks, and vision systems.
Lead Field Deployments:
Deliver technical support during customer installations, leading live equipment runoffs and providing training to client engineering teams.
Cross-Functional Interface:
Bridge communication between engineering, project management, and floor assembly teams to resolve technical roadblocks rapidly during builds.
Maintain Engineering Records:
Track test hours, manage open-issue resolution logs, and submit clear technical progress reports to project leadership. What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Qualifications)
Robotics Integration Depth:
5 to 8 years of hands-on experience integrating, debugging, and programming automated manufacturing equipment and robotic cells.
PLC Diagnostic Mastery:
5+ years of PLC logic troubleshooting and basic program editing experience in an active machine environment.
Schematic Fluency:
Deep capability reading and interpreting multi-page electrical layouts, mechanical assembly prints, and fluid power schematics.
Travel Willingness:
Absolute ability and alignment to travel 50% to 80% (predominantly domestic with occasional international commissioning opportunities).
Location & Authorization:
Residence established within a comfortable daily commuting distance of the Greater Milwaukee, WI area. Preferred Technical Assets (Bonus Skills)
Educational Background:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering.
CAD & Offline Simulation:
Practical experience utilizing SolidWorks/CAD for layout checks or offline simulation software (e.g., FANUC ROBOGUIDE, MotoSim).
Vision Systems:
