This position reports to the Field Service Manager or Service Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Daily travel to customer location(s) Identifies/troubleshoot mechanical problems with lift trucks or other equipment. Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined. Performs repairs, replacements, or preventative maintenance. Performs further tests that may include test driving the vehicle to ensure repairs are completed correctly. Estimate or quote repair costs. Maintain personal service van and inventory as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of the specialized area and general equipment repair. Excellent mechanical repair skills. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues. Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software. Ability to read service and repair manuals. Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion. Ability to read work orders. Must be willing to submit and pass an annual MVR check.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work safely in areas with potential exposure to cold/hot temperatures, noise pollution, dust, solvents, fuels, and battery acid. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly. Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed. Must be able to stand for 6+ hours daily. Must have good dexterity and grip strength; repetitive hand and wrist motions required. Good binocular vision to inspect repair work. Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
