Job Description

Job Overview An Oilfield Torque and Test Operator is responsible for operating torque equipment and pressure testing tools, connections, and oilfield components to ensure they meet required specifications and safety standards. This role is commonly performed on drilling rigs, wellsites, yards, and shop facilities. Key Responsibilities Operate hydraulic torque units, bucking units, torque wrenches, and related equipment. Make up and break out tubular connections, tools, and downhole equipment according to required torque specifications. Perform pressure testing on tools, valves, pipe, BOP components, hoses, and other oilfield equipment. Monitor torque, turns, pressure, and test charts to verify correct results. Inspect equipment before and after jobs to identify wear, damage, leaks, or unsafe conditions. Read and follow job procedures, torque specs, test procedures, and customer requirements. Complete job tickets, test reports, torque charts, and safety documentation accurately. Rig up and rig down torque and test equipment safely. Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot torque machines, pumps, hoses, gauges, and fittings. Communicate with supervisors, rig crews, company representatives, and customers. Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety policies. Participate in safety meetings, JSA/JHA reviews, and hazard assessments. Ensure pressure testing areas are barricaded and personnel remain clear during testing. Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting tools and equipment as needed. Required Skills and Qualifications Previous oilfield, torque, pressure testing, or rig experience preferred. Knowledge of tubular connections, torque procedures, and pressure testing practices. Ability to read gauges, charts, torque specs, and job procedures. Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work long hours, nights, weekends, and in harsh weather conditions. Must be able to lift heavy equipment and perform physical labor. Valid driver's license preferred; CDL may be required by some companies. H2S, First Aid/CPR, PEC/Safeland, or other oilfield safety certifications may be required. Typical Duties in the Field Arrive on location and attend pre-job safety meeting. Review job scope, torque requirements, and test pressures. Set up torque machine or test pump equipment. Torque connections to proper specifications. Conduct hydrostatic or pressure tests and monitor for leaks or pressure loss. Document results and submit reports to supervisor or company representative. Clean, secure, and prepare equipment for the next job. Work Environment Drilling rigs, completion sites, production locations, pipe yards, or service shops. Exposure to high-pressure equipment, heavy machinery, noise, oilfield fluids, and changing weather. Must follow strict safety procedures due to risks associated with torque equipment and pressure testing. Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 80.0 per week
