We are interested in an individual who would like to learn about residential and commercial generators. This field service role ensures emergency backup systems function reliably during power outages. O.J. Mann Generators of Connecticut is a commercial, residential and industrial electrical contractor as well as a full service generator dealer for Generac, Briggs and Stratton and Kohler generators. We have been servicing customers throughout the entire state of Connecticut for over 40 years.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine servicing such as oil and filter changes, changing spark plugs, battery testing, performing shutdowns/transfer switch checks, etc. Diagnostics and troubleshooting issues with generators and/or transfer switches. Repairs and replacements- repairing or replacing damaged parts such as stepper motors, motor starters, oil pressure switches, rotors, stators, engines, etc. Installations- assisting with setup, wiring, and testing of new generator units and transfer switches. Documentation with a detailed description of all services performed, parts used and accurate test results. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, etc. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly shop work areas, company vehicles and job site work areas.
Qualifications:
Education- high school diploma or GED required. Technical/trade school certifications are a plus. Experience- previous mechanical experience is a plus. Ability to read/follow diagnostic manuals. Familiarity with motors. Familiarity with basic electrical pertaining to generator systems. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand for long periods of time, and work in various weather conditions or confined spaces. Self motivated with good communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to clients. Valid driver's license. Able to pass a background check.
