Job Overview RKI Instruments, Inc., a provider of gas detection equipment and solutions, is seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Field Service Technician based out of our Boise office. This position will provide technical support and service for RKI Instruments' fixed and portable gas detection equipment. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of toxic and combustible gas monitoring systems in high-tech manufacturing facilities and cleanroom environments. Experience working in semiconductor cleanrooms is preferred. Candidates must also have a good driving record (DMV record) and be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screening. Responsibilities The Field Service Technician will support RKI Instruments' field service activities and provide maintenance, calibration, startup, and technical support for RKI and Riken Keiki fixed and portable gas detection equipment at customer sites and RKI facilities.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Commissioning and Startup Support the startup and commissioning of gas detection panels, sensors, and associated gas monitoring systems at semiconductor manufacturing facilities (fabs). Calibration and Testing Perform routine calibration, sensor replacement, functional testing, and preventive maintenance on toxic and combustible gas monitoring equipment to maintain accuracy and reliable operation. Troubleshooting and Repair Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic, electrical, and mechanical issues with gas detection equipment and monitoring systems. Perform repairs and replace components as necessary. On-Site Technical Support Respond to customer service requests and provide on-site technical support. Assist customers in resolving gas detection equipment issues and minimizing equipment downtime. Service Coordination and Documentation Support the coordination of scheduled service activities, preparation and maintenance of service records and related documentation, preparation of service-related quotations as needed, and management of service parts and inventory. Customer Communication and Training Communicate directly with customers regarding service activities, equipment condition, maintenance schedules, and related technical matters. Provide basic product operation and maintenance training to customers as needed. Technical Requirements The Field Service Technician should have the following skills and capabilities: Ability to use basic electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters and current meters, as well as common hand tools. Ability to read and understand schematics, equipment drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and wiring diagrams. General computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and common business software. Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with customers and other RKI team members. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (approximately 22.7 kg) and perform work using ladders. Experience working in semiconductor cleanroom environments is preferred. Experience Approximately 1-3 years of experience in technical service, maintenance, field service, or a related role is preferred. However, entry-level candidates with strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn will also be considered. $56,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
