Job Summary Are you a seasoned professional who is looking for a steady, low-stress position while staying actively involved in meaningful work? We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Caretaker/Property Restoration Specialist to assist with ongoing maintenance, restoration, and improvement of a historic homestead in northern Sangamon County. You will be actively involved in restoration, repairs, and project work alongside a small crew, while also helping guide priorities and keep projects moving. For someone who enjoys doing the work, solving problems, and occasionally helping coordinate others without the pressure of a formal supervisory position, this role is a great fit. Duties Perform hands-on work including carpentry, masonry, repairs, and general restoration. Troubleshoot issues and develop common sense solutions. Help prioritize and organize ongoing work across the property. Assist in coordinating outside contractors as needed. Work alongside a small team to complete projects, provide practical guidance, and share experience. Maintain the character and integrity of historic structures. Qualifications Extensive experience in construction, restoration, or home building. Strong skills across multiple trades (carpentry, masonry, etc.). Brick masonry is a plus. Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems. Practical problem-solver with a hands-on mindset. Comfortable taking initiative and working independently.
