at City Of Moline % Personnel Dept in Moline, Illinois, United States Job Description ow You'll Contribute You'll play an important role in ensuring accurate water metering & exceptional customer service throughout the City. Whether you're installing & maintaining water meters, troubleshooting automated meter reading equipment, locating underground utilities, or assisting customers in the field, your work helps ensure reliable utility service & accurate billing for our community. Working independently under general supervision, you'll use technical skills, sound judgment, & excellent customer service to complete a variety of field service activities while maintaining accurate records & promoting safe work practices. Essential Duties Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace water meters and components of computerized meter-reading system. Perform field locates of underground water, sanitary/storm sewers and City-owned electric/traffic utilities using maps, plans, digital or hard copy records, GIS maps and specialized electronic detection equipment. Collect water meter readings on an assigned route using computerized meter-reading system and ensure readings are accurately transmitted to billing personnel. Perform various tasks to ensure the completeness and accuracy of meter readings. Investigate abnormal readings and circumstances. Perform various field service tasks, including activities such as: turn on and turn off water; investigate customer complaints; collect water samples; collect initial and final meter readings; and deliver notices. Maintain computerized records relating to metering, field service, and cross connection control activities. Maintain inventory of metering system parts and supplies. Troubleshoot and repair components of computerized meter reading system. Conduct large meter tests. Promote communication and information flow. Perform other duties as assigned.
