Job description Position SummaryOtovo is seeking a skilled and dependable Field Service Technician to join our growing renewable energy team. In this role, you'll service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators.

This position is ideal for an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, and delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the transition to clean energy.

Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipmentPerform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessmentsCommission new systems and upgrades while ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility requirementsUtilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipmentMaintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentationFollow all safety procedures including PPE usage, lockout/tagout processes, and fall protection requirementsRespond to emergency service calls and warranty-related repairs as neededCommunicate effectively with homeowners and customers regarding system status and repair recommendationsRepresent Otovo professionally at customer sitesQualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED4+ years of electrical experienceValid driver's license with a clean driving recordStrong understanding of NEC, AHJ, and utility interconnection requirementsAbility to read electrical schematics and technical drawingsExperience using electrical diagnostic equipmentAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to climb ladders and work on rooftopsComfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditionsStrong communication and customer service skillsWillingness to travel locally and work overtime as neededState-required electrical certification or license (Journeyman, Wireman, or equivalent)Nice to HaveSolar PV installation or service experienceBattery storage experienceGenerator service experienceNABCEP CertificationGenerator training or certificationCommercial solar system experienceTrade school or technical education
