About us Disaster Specialists is a family owned company. We have been in business for 40 years. Our mission is to restore peoples homes after Fire and Water damage just as quickly as humanly possible with a minimum amount of hassle and delay for our clients. The people who work at Disaster are valued by the management and each other. This is a small comapny and we truly have a sense of family and belonging. We work on about 400 projects per year in the south coast, south shore and cape cod. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Restoration Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the restoration industry and be proficient in various restoration techniques, including fire restoration, mold remediation, and water damage restoration. This role involves working on-site to restore properties affected by disasters, ensuring safety and quality throughout the process. We will train the right person in the details of our trade. A background as a carpet cleaning technician, hospital housing keeping experience or prior military experience are helpful entry level attributes we would be looking for in a person to train. Duties Perform fire restoration services, including cleaning and repairing structures damaged by fire. Conduct mold remediation to ensure safe and healthy environments for clients. Execute water damage restoration tasks, including extraction, drying, and dehumidification. Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for various restoration tasks. Clean carpets and other surfaces as part of the restoration process. Build and assemble necessary structures or barriers during the restoration process. Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all job sites. Communicate effectively with clients to explain processes and address concerns. Ability to complete detailed documentation of water damage requirements. Able to work on call a week a time. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, access and mobility into tight spaces, sustained periods of standing, walking bending and kneeling. Work can be heavy, dirty and physically demanding. Must have a valid, clean driving record We will train and pay for the right candidate to get the IICRC certifications to be a professional in this industry. Special compensation for being on call and pay differentials for on call responses Experience Previous experience in the restoration industry is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with fire restoration, mold remediation, water damage restoration, is highly desirable. Proficient in using hand tools and power tools relevant to the restoration field. Experience with carpet cleaning techniques is a plus. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in hospital house keeping is a plus. Military back ground is also something we look for.
