About the Role We are seeking a Field Service Technician who enjoys hands-on technical work, troubleshooting complex equipment, traveling to customer sites, and working directly with customers. In this role, you will install, commission, troubleshoot, upgrade, and service sophisticated automated bakery and packaging equipment. You will work with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, PLC, and industrial control systems while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and technical support teams. This position involves approximately 75% travel , including frequent overnight assignments and occasional extended stays at customer facilities. What You'll Do Install, commission, and start up new automated bakery and packaging equipment. Perform mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, machine setup, testing, and troubleshooting. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, PLC, and control-system issues. Install retrofit packages, equipment upgrades, and system enhancements. Troubleshoot PLCs and machine controls and implement approved program modifications. Train customer personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and best practices. Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and technical support teams to resolve customer issues. Prepare detailed service reports documenting completed work, recommendations, and follow-up requirements. Provide professional and responsive customer service. Participate in technical and product training to stay current with new equipment and technologies. Respond to customer service needs, including emergency support situations when required. Participate in scheduled rotations supporting a 24/7 customer service environment. Travel Requirements This is a high-travel field service position . Approximately 75% travel throughout the United States and Canada, with occasional international travel. Frequent overnight travel, with assignments ranging from several days to multiple weeks. Ability to travel on short notice when urgent customer support is required. Technicians typically return home every other weekend, depending on project schedules and customer requirements. Valid driver's license and ability to qualify for vehicle rentals required. Valid passport or ability to obtain one required. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience servicing industrial machinery, automation systems, packaging equipment, or similar manufacturing equipment. Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and machine troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems. Ability to independently diagnose equipment problems and develop practical solutions. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with technical teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer troubleshooting. Ability to perform physically demanding field-service activities, including lifting equipment, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Preferred Qualifications Strong mechatronics background. Experience with packaging, bakery, food processing, or automated manufacturing equipment. PLC troubleshooting and programming experience.
