Ziegler CAT Power Systems has an opening for a full-time, experienced Advance Electrical Service Field Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Caterpillar power generation equipment as well as other brands of industrial generators to support customers surrounding our Shakopee branch. A company truck is provided.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 to $51.00 Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant's location. Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and repair electric power generation equipment including gas and diesel engines, generators, transfer switches and switchgear, fire pump engines, and other industrial engine applications at the customer's location
Uses a high degree of independent judgment to repair a variety of complex equipment and tools, which involve mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems
Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
Responds to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction; identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory
Willing and able to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor
Qualifications:
2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or high school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanicexperience
5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical, electrical & diesel maintenance/repair, some field experience preferred
Knowledge of electricity and electronics, engine diagnostics, failure analysis
Previous experience working on Caterpillar engines a plus but not required
Possess the ability to diagnose all equipment without supervision; is also able to read, follow, understand, and communicate schematics.
Ability to write and communicate effectively, interact with supervisors, customers and team members
Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
Own mechanic tool set
Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment including service truck
Willing and able to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by the supervisor
Able to operate equipment safely
Must have and maintain a clean driving record
Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen & physical due to the role being deemed safety-sensitive
DOT Med card or ability to obtain is required
Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a defined period
Minimum Physical Requirements:
Push/pull up to 50 lbs Lift/carry up to 60 lbs Lift bulky objects Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, suspine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping - able to use bolt box. Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
