Restoration Technician Job Description As a Restoration Technician, you perform hands-on restoration work in residential and commercial properties affected by water, smoke, and other damage. You handle water extraction, structural drying, smoke and soot cleanup, and debris removal while using hand and power tools safely. You document work thoroughly, communicate clearly with customers and team members, and contribute to returning properties to a safe, clean, and functional condition. Responsibilities Perform water extraction and structural drying in damaged properties using appropriate equipment and techniques. Set up, monitor, and remove drying and dehumidification equipment to ensure effective moisture removal. Carry out smoke and soot cleanup, including surface cleaning and odor mitigation as directed. Remove damaged materials such as drywall, flooring, cabinets, and insulation in a safe and organized manner. Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively for demolition and restoration tasks. Complete accurate daily logs, including photos and detailed work notes, to document job progress and conditions. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, explaining work being performed and addressing basic questions. Coordinate with team members on-site to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines. Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working in vacant homes and on construction sites. Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the workday. Essential Skills At least 6 months of labor or construction experience, preferably in restoration or related trades. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively in a construction or restoration setting. Capability to work on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed. General construction and carpentry skills sufficient for basic demolition and material removal. Reliable work habits and attention to detail when completing daily logs, photos, and work notes. Clear and professional communication skills when interacting with customers and team members. Valid drivers license with a clean driving record. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in restoration work such as water extraction, structural drying, or smoke and soot cleanup. Experience in general labor, construction, or mechanical work. Comfort working in vacant homes and active construction sites. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
