Job Summary
If you have a keen eye for the big picture, excellent technical data analysis skills, and enjoy working collaboratively, we may have the perfect role for you! The Field Service Technician III is a senior-level position that involves performing expert-level technical maintenance, repair, and support for complex systems. This role requires advanced diagnostic skills, leadership abilities, and the capacity to manage field projects independently. The technician will also play a key role in developing training materials and protocols for both customers and internal teams.
The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Responsibilities:
Perform expert-level maintenance and repairs on complex aerospace and defense systems.
Independently manage field service projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Diagnose and resolve the most challenging technical issues.
Lead and mentor junior and mid-level technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
Develop and deliver advanced training programs for customers and internal teams.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all field activities and equipment status.
Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Oversee inventory management for spare parts and tools.
Generate comprehensive technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
Travel extensively to customer sites, potentially including international locations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
3+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field.
Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience. Ability to understand and interpret basic technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
Progressive experience using troubleshooting techniques.
Thorough understanding of electrical wiring concepts.
Ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Associates degree in a related field of study.
Experience with FCC or FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
Prior experience with Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or A+.
Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pitot Static equipment gauges.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Experience in leading technical teams or projects.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Essential Functions:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
Ability to work in a combination of office and field environments.
Ability to read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
Ability to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
