Job Description

Chatfield Drilling and Water Systems is seeking a self-motivated, skilled Field Sales & Service Technician to independently manage in-home service calls, installations, and system recommendations across our local service area. Job Overview In this role, you will travel directly to residential and commercial customer locations to inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and install well water pumping systems and water treatment equipment. Operating independently in the field, you will serve as both technical expert and trusted advisor—diagnosing mechanical or electrical issues, performing hands-on repairs, and identifying opportunities to recommend upgraded water treatment or pumping solutions. Key Responsibilities Travel independently to customer homes or businesses to inspect, diagnose, and repair well water pumps (including submersible and jet pumps), pressure tanks, and control systems. Install, maintain, and service residential water treatment equipment, such as water softeners, iron filters, UV systems, and reverse osmosis units. Evaluate customer water quality, system capacity, and equipment condition to quote and sell appropriate water treatment solutions or equipment upgrades on-site. Troubleshoot electrical control boxes, pressure switches, wiring, and plumbing components using technical schematics and diagnostic tools. Perform routine preventive maintenance and emergency service calls to ensure clean, reliable water delivery for homeowners. Operate company service vehicles safely and maintain organized truck inventory and accurate digital service records. Communicate technical diagnosis and repair options clearly to homeowners, providing excellent customer service that builds long-term trust. Qualifications & Experience Proven hands-on experience with well water pumps (submersible and jet pumps), residential plumbing, water treatment systems, or a related mechanical trade. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience reading wiring diagrams and testing voltage/continuity. Demonstrated ability to work independently in the field, managing time effectively and making confident technical decisions. Natural customer service skills with comfort explaining technical details and recommending/selling upgrades directly to homeowners. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to Pass Background Check and DOT Physical and Drug Screening. Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy equipment and working outdoors or in utility areas. Why Join Chatfield Drilling and Water Systems? We offer competitive base-pay, performance-based commission and spiff opportunities, company-provided vehicle usage for service calls, company-provided call phone, company-provided tools and a supportive environment where your field independence and technical expertise directly impact the families we serve every day.
