Overview Graham Packaging is seeking a qualified field service technician with expertise in building, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing proprietary packaging machinery across its plant network. The role emphasizes minimizing operational downtime through advanced mechanical and electrical skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This position requires practical problem-solving abilities and involves extensive travel. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities The primary duties of the Field Service Training Technician include: Set up new equipment, including leveling, and connecting electrical/mechanical components according to prints and manuals Build of new equipment at our Technical Center Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing to keep machines running efficiently Diagnosing issues with electro-mechanical/pneumatic systems and making timely repairs to reduce downtime Teaching operators and maintenance staff how to properly use and maintain the machinery Completing detailed service reports, expense reports, and documenting all work Remote technical support, virtual support, phone support required Work directly with training group on the creation and updating of technical manuals Ability to work independently and as part of a team 80+ percent travel will be expected, Including international Qualifications Core Proficiencies and Skills The following skills and proficiencies are desirable for the position: Extensive hands-on mechanical knowledge and ability to understand electromechanical systems, with advanced troubleshooting skills. Extensive knowledge with pneumatic systems (all types of valves, filters, regulators, vacuum generators) Extensive knowledge of electromechanical systems Knowledge of hydraulic systems and servos a plus Working electrical knowledge, PLC diagnostics (Ladder, ST, FBD), ability to read and understand electrical schematics. Ability to read, understand, and modify 2D drawings. Good fabrication skills. Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, MS Teams) Valid driver's license, clean record Extensive travel. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements Associate's degree or technical certification preferred 5-10 years' experience in industrial maintenance or field service Compensation Statement The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States.
