Job Description
Summary:
This position will support customers on-site and remotely to install, troubleshoot and service their equipment. Demonstrate the manufacturing process of ophthalmic lenses and its applied technology, represent our company and products to our customer base, and be part of a fast-paced technology driven work environment. Will work directly with our customers throughout North America, Canada, and Mexico. Will visit our factory sites in Europe for additional projects or training.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Support customers (Labs, offices, LMS providers) with challenges and complex technical issues. Drive resolution of product challenges utilizing constant effective communication techniques that keep customers informed and engaged with high satisfaction of results. Provide onsite and phone service to customers to guide, troubleshoot and resolve challenges with OptoTech Technologies, Inc. machines. Assist with ongoing training for the company sales team by utilizing in-house training and equipment demonstrations. Interacts with customer representatives to confirm the work to be performed will be done efficiently, safely and on time. Proficient at evaluation and implementation of safety protocols, PPE and lockout/tagout. Installation of the company Surface, AR Coating, Automation machines at customer sites to include connecting machines to the facility utilities, commissioning the machines, functionality testing, calibrations, validations, and training. Provide preventive maintenance as scheduled to preserve machine functionality, validate machine functionality and performance, and recommend additional repair services as needed. Provide service call visits to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair. Complete detailed reporting after installations, preventative maintenance, and service calls. Attend trade shows, interact with attendees, demonstrate equipment functionally. Assist with trade show machine installation and breakdown at event. Assist in maintaining the in-house show lab with installations, demonstrations, and operations of equipment to support Research and Development team and customer visits. Represent the company with professional behavior and offer industry specific technical knowledge while interacting with customers. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficient in operating and troubleshooting CNC machinery preferred (e.g. milling, grinding, or polishing machines). Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematic diagrams. Experience/education in PLC programming is a plus. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication and teamwork skills. Demonstrated experience working independently at a customer site. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, computer-based applications, and remote support applications (Team Viewer, etc.)

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, (two- or four-year college degree) in electrical engineer / technician program or related program and/or equivalent experience. Minimum of two years of experience with service and installation of machines preferred.
Travel:
Minimum of 75% travel throughout North America, Europe, South and Latin Americas to support customer installations, troubleshooting, service, preventive maintenance, training, and trade shows. Valid Driver's License and Valid Passport are required. Clear driving record is required. Wisconsin residency not required.
Work Environment:
Is a traveling role with time spent in an office, manufacturing environment, and ophthalmic laboratory. Frequent and continuous computer-based work requires prolonged sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing acuity and ability to communicate with others effectively. Manual dexterity and hand eye coordination for typing, filing and utilization of office equipment. Mobility to move around the office, manufacturing environment and equipment as needed. Frequent and continuous activity the incumbent will be required to stoop, bend, stand or reach above the shoulders. The employee must lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75lbs.
