Job Description
Field Service Technician (Industrial / Heavy Mechanical & Electrical)
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform on-site installation, start-up, and commissioning of industrial machinery and systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults on heavy equipment and control systems.
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and calibration to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, PLC logic, and technical manuals to identify issues and implement solutions.
Provide accurate service reports, parts lists, and documentation following each service call; update maintenance records in company systems.
Communicate effectively with customers to explain findings, recommendations, and required repairs; provide professional customer service and technical guidance.
Order and manage spare parts and tools required for service tasks; track parts usage and inventory as needed.
Work collaboratively with engineering, sales, and operations teams to support continuous improvement and complex troubleshooting.
Adhere to all safety procedures, site rules, and regulatory requirements; participate in safety meetings and report hazards or incidents promptly.
Qualifications2+ years experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar role supporting industrial or heavy mechanical equipment (apprenticeship or trade school experience a plus).
Electrical troubleshooting experience: ability to read and work with electrical schematics, control wiring, motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and PLCs.
Experience with industrial controls, PLCs, HMIs, and basic programming or logic troubleshooting.
Proven ability to diagnose complex faults using test equipment (multimeter, clamp meter, oscilloscope) and implement corrective actions.
Valid drivers license and willingness to travel frequently to customer sites; overnight travel as required.
Good hand tools proficiency and the ability to safely lift and maneuver heavy components; comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
Strong communication skills, customer-service orientation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Relevant certifications (e.g., journeyman, electrical qualification, OSHA safety, forklift, or crane certification) are desirable.
Availability for on-call rotation and flexible schedule to respond to emergency service calls.

either location: Lexington, NC or Horsham, PAPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial equipment at customer sites. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with heavy mechanical systems and electrical controls, strong diagnostic ability, and a customer-focused approach.
