Position Summary:
As a Field Service Technician, you will be our primary point of contact on the ground and integrally involved with customers fixing their solar or helping them go solar. A solar service technician has prior solar knowledge and/or experience and is comfortable diagnosing and repairing existing solar systems installed. Technicians must be responsible and able to manage their schedule to ensure all necessary tasks are followed through, with minimal outside management. This position will require communicating with our corporate office effectively and efficiently. Reliable communication is crucial. Candidates for this position should have a flexible schedule, a clean driving record, and be available 40 hours a week, including Saturdays (optional, depending on the season).
Essential Duties:
  • Effectively manage your schedule to complete several time-sensitive tasks daily.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair existing SunPower solar systems (Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA)
  • Make corrections or additions to the recently installed solar system to ensure it is ready for City or State inspection.
  • Turn on the solar system once the installation is complete and collect customer feedback. Fix common inverter problems that may occur upon energization.
  • Conduct solar site assessments for prospective customers using your smartphone and with provided surveying equipment. Surveys must be completed on time.
  • Complete and submit job reports for every scheduled event in a timely manner
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1+ year experience with residential solar installation.
  • Must be familiar with PV systems, Enphase and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of residential construction is preferred but not required (framing, drywall, exterior repairs).
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license required
  • OSHA 10 (can be provided by the company)
  • Able to lift, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel
  • Must be comfortable working at heights in various weather and roof conditions
  • Lift up to 75 pounds While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
Regular periods of sitting or standing may be required by this position. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
