Field Service Technician Class B

Job Description

The OpportunityIn this role, you will provide hands-on field service support for power transformers, helping customers install, maintain, and restore critical electrical assets. Your work will include installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and end-of-life services-often performed on-site in challenging field conditions. You will interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, follow technical manuals, and complete detailed service activities that support equipment reliability and safe operation. Working closely with service colleagues and customers, your day-to-day contributions will help extend transformer life, improve performance, and support the dependable operation of power grid infrastructure.

How You'll Make an ImpactPerform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacementsSupport customer operations by addressing technical issues and anticipating service needsRead and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manualsComplete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured jointsRepair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directedOperate and maintain vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment with direction, including completing required logsCoordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare partsContribute ideas for product and process improvements that enhance operations and customer serviceResponsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your BackgroundCandidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

Associate Degree with 2 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional work experienceBroad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testingFamiliarity with transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing, and internal transformer componentsValid driver's license with the ability to travel up to 85%Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing laddersMore About UsWorking at Hitachi Energy offers exposure to advanced power transformer technologies and the opportunity to collaborate with people who understand the realities of field service and power grid operations.
