Service Manager Position Summary The Field Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Vecoplan industrial equipment at customer sites. This role serves as a critical technical resource and customer representative, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while delivering a high-quality customer experience. Key Responsibilities Installation & Commissioning Perform mechanical and electrical installation of Vecoplan machines and systems at customer facilities. Commission new equipment, verify proper operation, and conduct acceptance testing. Ensure installations meet Vecoplan standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications. Troubleshooting & Repair Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system issues. Perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize customer downtime. Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC logic, and technical manuals. Preventive Maintenance & Inspections Conduct preventive maintenance services and equipment inspections. Identify wear parts, recommend parts replacements, and advise customers on maintenance best practices. Document findings and provide clear service reports. Customer Support & Communication Serve as the on-site technical expert and primary point of contact during service visits. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding equipment status, findings, and recommendations. Provide operator and maintenance training when required. Documentation & Reporting Accurately complete service reports, time records, and expense documentation. Document service activities in ERP or service management systems. Provide feedback to engineering, service management, and parts teams to support product and service improvements. Safety & Compliance Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety policies. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at customer sites. Represent Vecoplan professionally at all times. Travel & Support Travel extensively to customer sites within assigned territory and occasionally nationwide. Support emergency service calls as needed, including extended hours and weekends. Assist with trade shows, customer demonstrations, or special projects when required. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred. 3+ years of experience servicing industrial machinery or heavy equipment. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentation. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively. Strong customer-service mindset and communication skills. Preferred Experience with shredders, grinders, material handling, or recycling equipment. PLC experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar). Experience working in manufacturing, recycling, or industrial processing environments. Familiarity with ERP systems and service documentation tools.
