UTILITY WORKER
Repairs Department Performs semiskilled work in the installation, repair and construction of water and sewer lines and appurtenances; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Works as a member of a crew repairing water and sewer lines; Helps make water and sewer taps and service connections; makes bores; Keeps trucks stocked with necessary equipment, supplies and fuel; Backfills ditch after repair has been completed; Locates and installs valves; draws small maps of valve locations; May operate trucks, tractors, back-hoe, air hammer, tapping machine and mechanical equipment in connection with the above tasks; Installs fire hydrants; Performs landscaping on property after work is completed; Identifies tools, materials, and parts associated with water and sewer line construction and repair; Performs basic mathematical calculations; Performs related tasks as required. Basic knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in the installation, replacement, maintenance and repair of water and/or sewer lines; some knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of water and/or sewer lines and appurtenances; some knowledge in the use of common hand and power tools; some knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of common automotive and mechanical equipment; ability to perform manual and semi-skilled labor for extended periods; ability to perform strenuous manual labor under all weather conditions in the field; ability to lift 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; ability to bend, reach and stand for extended periods of time, climb ladders, twist, sit, kneel, crawl, squat and walk and ability to drive a vehicle daily. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water and sewer lines. Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License according to State of residence. Title advancements and/or promotions to various positions depend on an individual's job performance, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and other special requirements. There is no guarantee of career progression to these or any other positions at the Authority.

Senior Utility Worker or Heavy Equipment Operator:
$20.87+ per hour
THIS POSITION IS OPEN IN THE REPAIRS DEPARTMENT. APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION MAY BE CONSIDERED, BUT IF SELECTED THEY WOULD BE PAID BELOW THE MINIMUM UNTIL THEY SATISFY THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS. THE PAY FOR A UTILITY WORKER IS
$19.36+.
