Job Description

This position is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. Applicants who pass the interview process will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. The purpose of this position is to initiate and discontinue water service.
Essential Functions:
Must be able to communicate with others in spoken and written English to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the business. Executes work orders for service at customer locations including investigations related to customer complaints, new services cut-on, discontinued service and non-pay cut-offs. Investigates possible causes of high-water usage such as leaks, theft and fixture malfunction. Conducts manual and radio-read meter readings as necessary. Replaces damaged meters, meter boxes and lids as needed. Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health. Maintains safety records for the assigned City vehicle. Performs other work as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Performs work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, or lifting all the time. Exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Involves routine and frequent exposure to traffic; extreme hot and/or cold; wet and/or humid conditions as work is outdoors year around, often encounters pets and sometimes wildlife.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must have six (6) months as an AMI Technician or closely related experience to be considered for AMI Field Representative.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Must have a valid driver's license. The City of Murfreesboro is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
