Job Description
Job Summary:
Herc-U-Lift, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our service and repair team. This is a fast-paced position that needs an experienced, take-charge individual with a proven track record.The primary function of a Field Service Technician is to travel to customer locations and repair their material handling equipment, MEWPs and rail car movers. You are required to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner, and build rapport with customers through technical expertise and communication skills to ensure customer feeling of satisfaction through value received.
You will manage your job as though it were a small business. You will be dispatched to jobs from your home using a company van and will coordinate with the service dispatch team and report on your jobs via a tablet.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.Complete a diagnosis of any mechanical, electrical, or other breakdown or failure of material handling equipment (forklifts, mobile elevating work platforms MEWPS, rail car movers, rough terrain lifts).Performs disassembly, repair and reassembly of engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, couplers, and any other part of material handling equipment and rail car movers.
Works with the parts department to order and install replacement parts for machines.
Maintain technical knowledge of all equipment brands.
Use all tools of the trade, including precision instruments, welding equipment, shop machines and power tools in making adjustments or repairs.
Requires little supervision and is able to assist others in the trade.
Maintains your own parts inventory based on the parts you carry in your van.
Follow all safety protocols.
Complete and submit all required paperwork.
Provide the best possible customer service, including offering additional services. Manage your workload effectively.
Job duties and responsibilities may change based on company or customer needs and requirements.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Valid driver's license Knowledge of engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems and/or charging systems.Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of computer systems and able to quickly learn our software to complete work orders.
Works well independently and with others.
Organized with strong attention to details.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong customer services skillsPresent a professional image in appearance and preparation
Education and Experience:
High school education.Some vocational or community college with related coursework preferred.3+ years direct technician experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 75lbs frequently.Prolonged periods standing and walking.
Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, crawl/crouch and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
Must be able to visually inspect machines.
