Occasional weekends and after-hours emergencies About the Position We are seeking an experienced Make-Ready Technician / Apartment Maintenance Handyman to join a well-established 141-unit apartment community in South Los Angeles. This role is ideal for a dependable maintenance professional with hands-on experience preparing apartment homes for new residents and performing routine property maintenance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of completing maintenance tasks independently while maintaining high-quality standards. Responsibilities Prepare vacant apartment units (make-readies) for new resident move-ins Perform light interior and exterior painting Complete drywall repairs, patchwork, and touch-ups Troubleshoot and perform minor electrical repairs Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, disposals, and fixture replacements Install and replace locks, hardware, blinds, and apartment fixtures Complete preventative maintenance throughout the property Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely manner Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas Assist with general property upkeep and curb appeal initiatives Follow company policies, safety procedures, and supervisor instructions Participate in occasional on-call maintenance emergencies as needed QualificationsRequired Previous experience as a Make-Ready Technician, Apartment Maintenance Technician, Handyman, or similar role Experience working in apartment communities, multifamily housing, or property management environments
Knowledge of:
Basic plumbing Basic electrical repairs Drywall repair Interior painting General maintenance and repair work Ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently Strong English communication skills Reliable transportation Ownership of basic hand tools required for daily maintenance work Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks Preferred Experience maintaining occupied and vacant apartment units HVAC experience or certification (not required) Experience using maintenance tracking or work-order systems Ability to diagnose maintenance issues with minimal supervision What We're Looking For We are seeking a technician with real-world apartment maintenance experience who takes pride in delivering quality work.
