Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Heavy-Duty Crane Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy construction and industrial equipment, including cranes, excavators, forklifts, and other heavy machinery. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment critical to our operations, helping us deliver top-tier service and safety standards. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on cranes, excavators, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other construction or industrial equipment. Conduct electrical diagnostics and automotive diagnostics to identify issues with electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, HVAC systems, and diesel engines. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose problems and execute repairs following OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications. Carry out fabrication tasks such as welding and assembly to repair or modify equipment components as needed. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency. Use power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and other specialized machinery safely and effectively during repairs. Support heavy equipment operation when required for testing repairs or assisting in troubleshooting procedures. Requirements Proven experience as a heavy-duty mechanic with a focus on construction machinery maintenance or industrial equipment servicing. Dealership experience or OEM certification is highly preferred for understanding manufacturer-specific systems. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engine repair, transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, tire service, and HVAC systems. Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting complex issues. Skilled in welding, fabrication techniques including soldering and assembly of mechanical parts. Proficiency with vehicle maintenance tools such as power tools, torque wrenches, diagnostic scanners, and lifting equipment for heavy lifting tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation to communicate effectively with team members and clients. Valid certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation are advantageous; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is expected. Ability to work in physically demanding environments involving heavy lifting and extended periods standing or walking. Direct experience with Manitowoc crawler cranes . Direct experience with Grove rough-terrain cranes . Manitowoc or Grove factory/manufacturer training. North Slope or Arctic oilfield experience.
Crane electrical and electronic diagnostic experience.
Welding and fabrication experience.
CDL or heavy-equipment operating experience.
