Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive electrical systems, and diagnostic tools; execute repairs efficiently. Conduct repairs on transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, brakes (including air brake systems), shocks & struts, and other mechanical systems. Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding equipment and hand tools to meet specific operational requirements. While the position is primarily in town local, you will be expected to travel to remote locations from time to time as needed/requested for issues necessitating abnormal solutions and time frames. Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex issues accurately. Maintain detailed service records, work logs, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies. Requirements Proven dealership or heavy equipment mechanic experience with a strong background in automotive diagnostics and vehicle systems repair. Hands-on experience with heavy truck repair, diesel engine repair, industrial equipment, farm machinery, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers. Proficiency in using schematics for electrical systems repair and understanding of hydraulics and HVAC systems. Mechanical knowledge of transmissions, suspensions, air brake systems, shocks & struts, and vehicle steering component adjustment procedures. Skilled in welding, fabrication techniques including soldering and heavy lifting for equipment repairs. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely including excavators and cranes; familiarity with heavy lifting procedures is essential. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Valid certifications in heavy equipment, automotive repair or diesel repair are preferred; relevant licenses or certifications are a plus.
