Mechanic Assistant Blackjack Horticulture Birmingham, AL | Full-Time | Onsite About Us Blackjack Horticulture is a full-service landscape contractor specializing in maintenance, installation, floriculture, and masonry/hardscapes.
Our mission is simple:
making outdoor spaces a JOY, not a JOB. To keep our crews and equipment running strong, we're looking for a reliable Mechanic Assistant to support our shop and fleet maintenance operations. About the Role As a Mechanic Assistant, you'll work alongside our lead mechanic to keep trucks, trailers, mowers, and landscape equipment in safe, reliable working condition. This is a great opportunity for someone mechanically inclined who wants to build hands-on experience and grow their skills in fleet and equipment maintenance. What You'll Do Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, mowers, and landscape equipment Perform oil changes, filter replacements, tire checks, and other basic maintenance tasks Help diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on equipment Keep the shop organized, clean, and safe Maintain accurate maintenance logs and parts inventory Assist with pickup and delivery of parts, equipment, or vehicles as needed Support the lead mechanic on larger repairs and projects Follow all safety protocols when working with tools, equipment, and vehicles What We're Looking For Basic mechanical knowledge or prior experience with small engines, trucks, or equipment maintenance preferred Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced mechanics Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop and outdoor environment Valid driver's license Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience 401(k) with company match Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off Opportunities for advancement Safety equipment provided How to Apply Apply online at blackjackhorticulture.com/careers Blackjack Horticulture is an equal opportunity employer.
