Department:
The Fleet Management Division's goal is to furnish City departments with properly equipped and well-maintained vehicles and equipment. The responsibilities of the division include the purchase, fueling, repair and maintenance of City-owned vehicles and equipment, including automated garbage trucks, emergency response vehicles and equipment used for construction and landscaping.
Equipment Services Worker II Position Overview:
This is routine preventative maintenance and safety inspection work on heavy construction equipment, automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other motorized and mechanical equipment. Work involves performing safety and preventative maintenance inspections; performing minor mechanical repairs; and the completion of work orders. Work also involves servicing and inspecting fluid levels and filters; inspecting under the hood; inspecting the outside condition; inspecting tires; and inspecting under and inside the vehicle.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency; considerable experience in installation of electronics into motor vehicles, and ability to read schematics and use specialized diagnostic testing tools; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Driver's License is required. Commercial Driver's License, Class B with Passenger Endorsement must be obtained within eleven (11) months of hire and/or promotion date. Must Pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
