Lead Mechanic Job Summary:
The Hydraulics Mechanic at Sun Test Systems is responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting hydraulic systems and components according to schematics, blueprints, and hand sketches. This role involves selecting appropriate materials and fittings, using specialized tools and machinery to fabricate and repair hydraulic assemblies, and performing thorough static and functional testing. The Hydraulics Mechanic maintains accurate job documentation, ensures quality workmanship, and provides guidance to junior mechanics as needed to support efficient and safe operations. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Reads and interprets hydraulic schematics, mechanical blueprints, and hand sketches. Selects appropriate hose, tubing, fittings, and materials based on system requirements. Uses specialized tools and hydraulic machinery including benders, crimpers, flaring and threading equipment. Fabricates and installs hydraulic hoses, hard lines, valves, manifolds, pumps, motors, and cylinders. Performs hydraulic pressure tests, leak checks, and functional tests. Troubleshoots hydraulic system faults including pressure loss, flow restrictions, contamination, and component failures. Maintains complete records, documentation, and test data. Provides guidance to lower-level mechanics when necessary. Collaborates effectively with coworkers, customers, and management. Other duties may be assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Must be a U.S. citizen or meet any federal program requirements. Able to physically move equipment up to 50 lbs. Proficiency in MS Project and general MS Office applications. Experience in manufacturing or mechanical assembly. Proficiency in basic mathematical functions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. 2-4 years of hydraulic, mechanical, or industrial maintenance experience.
