About the Role As a Commercial Vehicle Upfitter, you will play a critical role in transforming chassis into fully functional work vehicles by installing specialized equipment and accessories. You will leverage your technical expertise in electrical systems and metal fabrication to ensure every vehicle is built for maximum performance and reliability on the job site. Responsibilities Execute the installation of service utility bodies, dump bodies, and stake bodies to meet rigorous operational standards. Integrate commercial truck accessories including hitches, ladder racks, shelving systems, and specialized storage solutions. Perform precise electrical wiring and system diagnostics to ensure seamless operation of auxiliary components. Apply welding techniques to fabricate and secure custom mounts and structural reinforcements. Troubleshoot complex mechanical and hydraulic issues to deliver high-quality, road-ready equipment. Collaborate with team members to optimize assembly workflows and maintain high output efficiency. Maintain a safe, organized workspace while strictly adhering to all PPE and facility safety protocols. Qualifications Required Skills 2+ years of professional experience in vehicle welding (MIG/TIG) and metal fabrication. 2+ years of hands-on experience with automotive electrical wiring and schematic interpretation. Proficiency in operating a wide range of power hand tools and diagnostic equipment. Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve mechanical system failures. Strong understanding of vehicle suspension, steering, and brake systems. Preferred Skills Advanced knowledge of complex hydraulic systems and Power Take-Off (PTO) components. Current ASE Automobile or Light Truck Certifications. Experience with heavy equipment electrical diagnostics and fleet maintenance. Proven ability to read and implement technical build schematics for custom upfits.
