GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is primarily responsible for PM maintenance and light repairs on heavy duty diesel trucks and Tanker Trailers.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be willing to Learn and take direction in the following: Basic Troubleshooting skills & Basic Diagnostics skills of diesel engines, Drive Train, Electrical, brake system. Be able to escalate and communicate high level repair issues pertaining to diagnosis to Terminal Manager or Journeyman level mechanic for direction and or assistance.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Basic Tools helpful but not required, but should show building personal tool inventory at own cost during employment. Must be able to work independently, escalate issues pertaining to equipment and take direction. Must have basic knowledge of Light duty repairs on Heavy duty equipment including but not limited to: PM inspections, air condition system, drive-train, basic electrical, suspension/steering, braking system. Knowledge in Tanker Repair and Vapor testing a Plus but not required. PM Services and DOT regulation knowledge pertaining to OOS (out of service) Criteria. Must be able to perform all aspect of tire and wheel maintenance (mount and dismount tires, remove and install complete tire and wheel) Proper and safe use of basic hand and power tools Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, and function well as a team member Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English so as to ensure effective communication across all lines of employees, vendors, and customers General computer skills Must be able to operate a motor vehicle Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license during the course of employment - Class A preferred but not required. Must be able to climb on and around diesel truck equipment Sit, kneel, walk, lift (up to 50 pounds) and carry

JOB CONDITIONS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Shift Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM Road calls may be required/ OT when needed or asked. Occasional travel to outside terminal locations may be required

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE PM

Level Mechanic skills are typically acquired through possession of a Technical School Diesel certificate program we will consider 2-years previous experience working as a light duty or PM mechanic on heavy duty diesel equipment without a certificate. A combination of both is preferred. High School diploma required -Williams Tank Lines Inc.
