Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment, including forklifts, manlifts, hostlers, reach stackers, front and side loaders, cranes, and similar equipment. Perform detailed equipment inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with OEM specifications. Utilize diagnostic tools and service manuals to accurately assess equipment condition and repair requirements. Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records with accuracy and attention to detail. Perform welding and fabrication repairs as necessary. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns in the field or yard as needed and maintain a strong customer-service mindset. Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and team members regarding equipment status and repair needs. Follow all company policies and procedures to minimize risk and maintain operational excellence. Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures. Assist with training and mentoring team members as needed. Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or diesel technician repairing and maintaining heavy equipment. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagnostic codes, and hydraulic/electrical schematics. Basic welding and fabrication skills. Willingness to respond to after-hours service calls when necessary. Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb, bend, and work around heavy machinery in outdoor environments and at elevated heights. Commitment to workplace safety policies and procedures. Ability to distinguish colors within the normal spectrum. Ownership of a full complement of industry-standard tools necessary to perform the role. Preferred Completion of a technical program or degree in heavy equipment, diesel, or automotive mechanics. Experience with fleet management systems or maintenance-tracking software.
