Job Description
🔧 Service Technician Work on the technology behind the world's most advanced semiconductor manufacturing. We're hiring a Service Technician to join a specialized team supporting cryogenic vacuum pumps and electromechanical equipment used throughout the semiconductor industry. If you enjoy troubleshooting complex equipment, working with your hands, and solving mechanical challenges, this is an opportunity to build your skills in a high-tech, growing industry. This is a hands-on mechanical and electromechanical service role based in San Jose. It is not an IT support position . What You'll Be Doing No two repairs are exactly the same. In this role, you'll: Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain cryogenic vacuum pumps and related equipment Perform equipment builds, installations, modifications, calibrations, and preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical issues using hand tools and test equipment Identify root causes and implement effective repair solutions Support inventory management, shipping, receiving, and parts organization Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow technical documentation, procedures, and quality standards Work independently on assigned repairs while collaborating with a skilled technician team What We're Looking For Required High school diploma or GED 2-5 years of hands-on experience repairing, testing, or maintaining mechanical or electromechanical equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to perform basic electrical diagnostics and repairs Experience using common hand tools and service test equipment Ability to follow technical instructions and repair procedures accurately Strong time management and problem-solving skills Clear communication skills and attention to detail Great Backgrounds for This Role We're open to candidates from a variety of hands-on technical environments, including: Automotive repair and maintenance Electromechanical field service Bench repair technician roles HVAC service and repair Semiconductor manufacturing Clean room operations Industrial maintenance Preferred Qualifications Associate's or technical degree in a related field Experience with vacuum systems or complex electromechanical equipment Semiconductor or clean room experience Preventive maintenance experience Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team Work Environment Clean, organized laboratory and warehouse setting Monday-Friday schedule, typically: 7:00 AM-4:00 PM or 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Limited overtime Minimal travel (approximately once per year) Hands-on training through job shadowing and mentorship with experienced technicians Occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays based on business needs Why Join? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
