We are seeking an experienced, dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of construction equipment, commercial trucks, and company vehicles. The ideal candidate is a skilled mechanic who takes pride in their work, communicates well with field personnel and management, and understands the importance of keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the job. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair construction-related heavy equipment in both shop and field conditions. Perform repairs and maintenance on commercial trucks and company vehicles as needed. Assist the Maintenance Manager with scheduled maintenance and preventative maintenance programs. Respond promptly to equipment repair and service needs to minimize downtime and support field operations. Maintain regular communication with field crews, supervisors, and Division Management regarding equipment needs and repairs. Assist with loading, securing, and hauling heavy equipment using tractor and multi-axle trailers when needed, including coverage for vacation schedules. Occasionally assist with lubrication and fueling of heavy equipment, including operation of the company's lube and fuel truck when coverage is needed. Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment and follow company safety procedures. Qualifications Current, valid California Class A driver's license with a clean and unrestricted driving status is required. Experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy construction equipment Experience loading and hauling heavy equipment within California is preferred. Hazardous Materials endorsement is preferred. Experience with heavy equipment lubrication and fueling procedures is preferred. Knowledge of current California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions compliance requirements is preferred but not required. Basic computer skills, including the ability to use maintenance software, email, and web-based resources. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Dependable, professional, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Positive attitude and willingness to take direction and assist wherever needed. Schedule & Travel This position generally works 8-hour days and 40 hours per week. Longer workdays, overtime, or extended workweeks may occasionally be required depending on workload and operational needs. Occasional out-of-town work and overnight stays may also be required. Overnight travel is limited, and the Company provides hotel accommodations and per diem for required overnight assignments.
Compensation and Benefits Hourly Pay Range:
$30.00 - $50.00 per hour Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, skills, and other factors permitted by law. This position may also perform work subject to California Prevailing Wage requirements. When applicable, compensation will be paid in accordance with current California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) prevailing wage rates for the applicable classification and project location.
