Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy construction and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our fleet operational, minimize downtime, and support our ongoing projects. Duties Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on heavy equipment including excavators, dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, bulldozers, loaders, and other construction machinery. Troubleshoot mechanical issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools, and industry-standard procedures. Repair and replace components such as transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, suspensions, engines (including diesel engines), air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical systems. Conduct fabrication work as needed for custom repairs or modifications using welding, soldering, and power tools. Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports, and document all work performed in compliance with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications. Assist with equipment assembly, installation, calibration (including alignment), and preventive maintenance schedules to maximize equipment lifespan. Support heavy equipment operation when necessary by performing safety checks and ensuring machinery is functioning correctly before use. Requirements Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, loaders, tractors-trailers, and industrial equipment. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics and automotive diagnostics related to heavy equipment systems. Skilled in troubleshooting equipment issues using schematics and technical manuals; familiarity with OEM parts is essential. Ability to perform diesel engine repair, transmission work, brake repair, suspension adjustments, hydraulics servicing, and tire service. Experience with welding, fabrication techniques (including soldering), and the use of hand tools and power tools required for repairs. Must have their own tools to perform the required duties of the position. Knowledge of HVAC systems on heavy machinery as well as electrical system troubleshooting skills. Valid mechanic certification or equivalent training; dealership or service center experience highly valued. Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform heavy lifting tasks regularly; strong customer service skills are a plus for interacting with clients or team members on-site.
