Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Technician/Mechanic specializing in Light Construction Equipment to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of construction machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly, supporting various construction projects with reliable equipment service. Duties Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on light construction equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, and hydraulic system checks to maximize equipment lifespan. Troubleshoot mechanical issues using schematics, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals, and electrical diagnostics tools to identify root causes efficiently. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to resolve repair challenges. Test repaired equipment through heavy equipment operation to ensure proper functionality and safety standards are met before returning to service. Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for all repairs performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Assist in equipment assembly and installation projects while adhering to safety protocols and technical specifications. Qualifications Proven dealership or heavy equipment service technician experience with construction machinery maintenance and repair. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, electrical systems, HVAC components, and air brakes. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, schematics reading, and troubleshooting heavy equipment operation issues. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various environmental conditions. Knowledge of OEM standards for construction machinery servicing including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and farm machinery. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Valid certifications related to diesel mechanics, heavy equipment operation or maintenance are preferred but not mandatory; ongoing training is encouraged.
