Mechanic Helper Mid Shift
JOB OVERVIEW
The Mechanic Helper at Tri-State Tree Service supports our maintenance team servicing specialized fleet equipment including bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, and heavy machinery. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience while ensuring safe, efficient equipment operation. Work closely with Lead Mechanics to meet our high safety and performance standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance Support Assist with routine maintenance: tune-ups, oil changes, tire/brake inspections, spark plug replacements Support electrical repairs: batteries, starters, lighting Help with tire rotation and fluid replacement Assist replacing worn components: belts, hoses, parts Diagnostic and Testing Learn diagnostic procedures and troubleshooting Operate diagnostic tools under supervision, provide reports to Lead Mechanics Conduct test drives to verify repair completion Shop Operations and Safety Maintain clean, organized work areas Handle and dispose of hazardous materials per safety protocols Manage parts inventory and shop supplies Inspect/maintain tools, ensure proper storage Update maintenance logs and repair documentation
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required 1+ years Mechanic Helper or similar automotive/mechanical experience Basic mechanical knowledge and vehicle systems understanding Valid driver's license with clean record Ability to read service manuals and technical documentation Proficiency with hand and power tools Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving Attention to detail, ability to follow instructions Effective teamwork and communication Efficient task completion within timeframes Basic computer skills and electronics familiarity Physical ability to lift heavy components, work in various weather
Pre-Employment Requirements:
This position requires successful completion of pre-employment screening, including but not limited to: background verification, and motor vehicle record review.
