Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dependable, responsible, accountable, and highly skilled Heavy Equipment Operator / Test Field Technician to join our product testing team. In this role, you will operate a variety of heavy equipment through controlled test courses, obstacle environments, and real-world operating conditions to evaluate product performance, durability, reliability, and safety. This position plays a critical role in supporting our product development and quality assurance efforts by accurately executing test procedures, identifying equipment issues, and documenting results. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and takes pride in producing accurate, reliable work. Candidates must also be proficient with computers and comfortable navigating databases, entering test data, documenting findings, and maintaining accurate electronic records throughout the testing process. Additional Job Requirement Outdoor Work Requirements Are you comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions? In addition to operating heavy equipment and conducting product testing, this role includes maintaining the test field to ensure it remains safe and operational.
Responsibilities may include:
Mowing and weed eating Rebuilding and maintaining test hills and obstacle courses General upkeep of the test field and testing areas Assisting with other outdoor maintenance tasks as needed This position requires someone who is willing and able to perform both heavy equipment testing and hands-on outdoor maintenance as part of the daily responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery (skid steers, excavators, loaders, forklifts, telehandlers, etc.) across obstacles, test tracks, and challenging terrains according to test plans. Conduct controlled maneuvers designed to test traction, handling, durability, wear, and stability of products. Assist engineering and production teams with setup, calibration, and preparation of equipment for testing. Perform basic maintenance, inspections, and adjustments to test vehicles and machinery. Follow strict safety protocols and ensure all testing is performed in a controlled and compliant environment. Identify issues, abnormalities, or failures and report them clearly to supervisors or engineers. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment (construction, agriculture, or industrial).
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in utilizing computer software for data entry and reporting. Strong understanding of equipment handling, controls, and safe operation. Ability to operate machines in tight, variable, and obstacle-heavy environments. Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting or minor adjustments. Valid driver's license (CDL a plus). Ability to lift 75-100 lbs. and work in outdoor or test-site conditions. Strong communication and reporting skills. Attention to detail and commitment to safety. Clean criminal background check required Preferred Qualifications Experience in product testing, quality control, or equipment evaluation. Familiarity with hydraulics, electrical systems, or equipment diagnostics. Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, NCCER, or heavy equipment operator certifications. Experience operating multiple machine types or attachments.
