IMMEDIATELY HIRING HEAVY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIANS / MECHANICS IN KERNERSVILLE, NC THERE ARE POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR BOTH SHOP AND FIELD SERVICE WORK TYPICAL WORK DAY BEGINS AT 7AM MONDAY - FRIDAY THIS IS A CONTRACT TO PERMANENT HIRE POSITION PAY IS
$25-30 PER HOUR These roles focus on providing field and/or shop service, maintenance, and repair for specialized drilling equipment by leveraging a strong heavy equipment mechanic experience. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on a variety of construction and heavy equipment, then transition those skills to highly specialized drilling machinery through on-the-job training. Responsibilities Perform field and/or shop service, maintenance, and repair on heavy construction and drilling equipment at customer sites. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools. Inspect equipment to identify potential problems and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Use hand tools and power tools to disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble components and systems. Install, configure, and adjust components, parts, and accessories on heavy equipment and drilling machinery. Read, interpret, and apply electrical and hydraulic schematics to perform accurate and efficient repairs. Document all work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and service recommendations, in work orders. Operate and maintain a field service truck, ensuring tools, equipment, and parts are organized and in good working condition. Travel primarily within North Carolina and South Carolina, with occasional travel to surrounding states, to complete assigned service calls. Communicate clearly with supervisors, shop personnel, and customers regarding equipment status, repair needs, and timelines. Follow safety procedures and best practices while working on-site and in the field to protect yourself, coworkers, and customer property. Support the transition from general heavy equipment work (such as excavators, dozers, and backhoes) to specialized drilling equipment through continuous learning and hands-on experience. Essential Skills Proven experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic working on construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, or backhoes. Strong proficiency in electrical systems, including troubleshooting, wiring, and working from electrical schematics. Strong proficiency in hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and interpretation of hydraulic schematics. Hands-on experience with mechanical repair, troubleshooting, and service of heavy equipment. Ability to perform preventive maintenance on complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Experience working with pneumatics in a maintenance or repair environment. Demonstrated field service experience or comfort working independently at customer sites. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for repair and installation work. Competence in reading and understanding schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation. Clean driving record with no points, enabling safe operation of a company-provided service truck. Willingness to learn and adapt to specialized drilling equipment and new technologies. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication skills to interact professionally with customers and internal teams. Interest in long-term career development and advancement within a specialized equipment environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kernersville, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
