Essential Functions for the
Position:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, tear down, clean, inspect, rebuild and dyno test engines related to the transportation industry, including but not limited to associated engine subcomponents. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
1. Must be able to read and understand technical publications, including related parts and service manuals. 2. Must have knowledge of engine system test equipment used to inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, service, replace and overhaul engines system components. 3. Must be familiar with safety equipment and procedures.
Education, Training & Experience:
1. Must be high school or trade school graduate. 2. Must have six (6) years' practical working experience in the heavy equipment field, including at least four (4) years with medium/heavy duty diesel engines to include, but not limited to the Ford 6.0L Powerstroke diesel engine .
Other Job Requirement & Conditions:
1. Must possess basic as well as special tools needed to accomplish everyday responsibilities of a heavy equipment mechanic as applied to the transit field. 2. Must meet or be able to meet all present and future license and certification requirements as may be required by City, State or Federal governments; and must possess valid State of Hawaii driver's license with clean traffic abstract (CDL "Type B" optional). 3. Must pass Company administered written and oral examinations. 4. Must be able to meet standard physical requirements and pass Company sponsored medical examination and drug test. 5. Must be able to pass physical requirements to operate forklifts and overhead cranes. 6. Must have excellent work performance and attendance records; and must be willing and able to work various shifts, overtime as directed, holiday duty as required and assume days off as assigned.
