Position Summary The Maintenance Crew Member performs a variety of manual labor, equipment operation, and repair tasks to support the maintenance and operation of irrigation canals, laterals, drains, pipelines, and district facilities. This position ensures that district infrastructure is maintained safely and efficiently to support water delivery operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in construction, irrigation systems, or heavy equipment operation
• Valid CDL Class A (Commercial Driver's License) and applicable endorsements
• Welding or fabrication experience
• Knowledge of canal systems and water control structures
• Current Idaho professional pesticide applicator license with appropriate endorsements: Right-of ways and aquatic within 60 days of hiring Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to perform manual labor in outdoor conditions
• Basic mechanical aptitude Mechanical Knowledge
• Diesel engines utilized across various equipment types.
• Small Engines and gasoline engines.
• Proficiency in engine diagnostics utilizing code readers. General Maintenance
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on canals, laterals, drains, and structures
• Remove debris, sediment, vegetation, and obstructions from waterways
• Assist with cleaning, shaping, and repairing canal banks and access roads Construction & Repairs
• Assist in installation and repair of headgates, culverts, pipelines, and control structures
• Perform concrete work, pipe installation, and structural repairs as assigned
• Assist with welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs when applicable Equipment Operation
• Operate district equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, mowers, and weed control equipment
• Perform basic maintenance and inspections on equipment
• Report equipment issues promptly Water System Support
• Assist ditch riders and foreman with water control structures as needed
• Help respond to emergencies such as washouts, leaks, or flooding
• Support seasonal water operations and shutdown procedures Safety & Compliance
• Follow all district safety policies and procedures

• Identify and report unsafe conditions

• Work cooperatively with crew members, ditch riders, and office staff

• Maintain a professional and respectful attitude with coworkers and the public Seasonal Expectations Extended hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required during irrigation season. On-call availability for emergencies. Physical Requirements

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed Additional Duties for CDL Holders Employees who possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be assigned the following additional duties and responsibilities:
• Operate District vehicles and equipment requiring a CDL, including dump trucks, water trucks, tractor-trailers, and other commercial motor vehicles.
• Transport equipment, materials, gravel, debris, chemicals, and supplies to and from District work sites.
• Perform and document required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Promptly report vehicle defects, safety concerns, accidents, citations, or maintenance needs.
• Maintain a valid CDL and any endorsements required for assigned vehicles or equipment.
• Comply with applicable federal and state commercial driving requirements and the District's drug and alcohol testing policies.
• Maintain an acceptable driving record and immediately notify the District of any suspension, restriction, revocation, expiration, or other change affecting driving privileges.

Additional Duties for Licensed Applicators Employees who possess a current professional pesticide or herbicide applicator license may be assigned the following additional duties and responsibilities: Apply herbicides, pesticides, and other approved products to canals, laterals, drains, rights-of-way, District property, and other designated areas. Select, mix, load, transport, apply, and dispose of products in accordance with label instructions, applicable laws, and District procedures. Calibrate, inspect, operate, and maintain spraying and application equipment. Maintain accurate application records, including the product used, application rate, location, acreage or area treated, date, time, weather conditions, and other required information. Follow all product-label requirements, safety precautions, restricted-entry requirements, and environmental protections. Use required personal protective equipment and follow procedures for handling spills, exposure, storage, and disposal. Monitor weather and site conditions before and during application to reduce drift, runoff, and unintended exposure. Properly secure, transport, and store regulated products and application equipment. Maintain the appropriate applicator license, endorsements, or certification categories required for assigned applications. Complete required continuing education and notify the District of any expiration, suspension, restriction, or other change in license status. Assist with inventory control and promptly report spills, exposure incidents, equipment problems, or other safety concerns.
