We work on a variety of medium- and heavy-duty trucks and equipment, and we are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career in the diesel and truck repair industry. Experienced technicians are welcome, but you do not have to be a seasoned mechanic to join our team. If you are a young technician with mechanical ability, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn, we are willing to train and develop you into a skilled medium- and heavy-duty truck mechanic. We believe good technicians are developed through hands-on experience, training, and working alongside experienced people. What You'll Do Your day-to-day work will focus primarily on general maintenance and repair of medium- and heavy-duty trucks , including: Preventative maintenance (PM) services Brake inspections and repairs Brake system maintenance Electrical troubleshooting and repairs Lights and lighting systems Clutch replacement and repair Steering and suspension repairs Cooling system repairs General engine maintenance and repairs Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems DOT-related maintenance and repairs Inspecting trucks and identifying needed repairs Maintaining accurate service and repair records Keeping your work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized This is a hands-on shop position . You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of trucks and learn how different systems work. Willing to Train the Right Person Don't have years of experience? That's okay. We're looking for people with the right attitude, mechanical aptitude, work ethic, and desire to learn . If you're a recent trade-school graduate, an entry-level technician, or someone who has been working on vehicles or equipment and wants to move into medium- and heavy-duty trucks, we will consider training you. You will work alongside experienced technicians and learn through hands-on experience. As your skills and ability increase, so will your responsibilities and earning potential. Pay $20.00-$35.00 per hour , depending on experience, skill level, and demonstrated ability. We are open to hiring at different experience levels: Entry-Level / Apprentice — $20-$25/hr. Little or no professional truck repair experience Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Trade school or vocational training is a plus Basic mechanical knowledge Reliable and dependable We will train the right person Experienced Technician — $25-and UP/hr. Experience working on medium- or heavy-duty trucks Ability to perform PM services and general repairs independently Experience with brakes, electrical systems, clutches, and other truck systems Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems Ability to work safely and efficiently with limited supervision What We're Looking For Strong mechanical aptitude Good problem-solving skills Dependable and willing to work Ability to learn new systems and repair procedures Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and trucks Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team Previous mechanical experience is helpful, but not required for the right entry-level candidate CDL is a plus, but not required Why State Tractor & Equipment?
